January 12td

Jan 12th
Up at 4am to go flying with Paul. We had a great flight, following the special Libra Balloon. This is a view of the suburbs of Sydney.
After the flight, we all went for breakfast at a great cafe along the Sydney Harbor. It was starting to heat up by then, afternoon temps should be 33c. ( Which is the night time temp. of Adelaide, our next stop. Daytime is 43c!!)
Great breakfast, great company. Paul, me, Derek, and Maaike.
Couldn't help my self, I had to get one more shot of the Opera House, as we were crossing the bridge.
In the afternoon, we decided to walk down to the harbor and catch a ferry to Rydalmere. This is one of their longest ferry rides. We thought it would be a good way to cool down. On the way there, we walked through an area called The Rocks. These houses were built in 1823, by the first european settlers in Sydney. The area is really quaint, with old buildings, narrow roads and winding staircases and alleys.
An Aborigine playing his synthesized didgeridoo.
One side of the bridge is this amusement park-Luna Park. Very popular in the evening.
View from the back of the ferry. We went passed the harbor and down the Paramata River. Trip was 1hr 20 mins, return. Lovely cool breezes on the river. Numerous ferrys take you all around the harbor, serving as passenger ferrys for the workers in Sydney. With views like this, it's a great way to start the day, and a great way to end it. Tomorrow, we hire a car and start driving to Melbourne. I'm told we'll see lots of Kangeroos on the way, as they are mostly nocturnal and are constantly jumping across the roads in search of food, as early as 5pm. I'll have my camera ready!
