February 15th

Feb 15,
No flight today, so slept in till 10am!! Went to the local airport to hand out flyers to passengers flying into Pai. Flights from Chiang mai takes 20 mins ( 3 or 4 hrs by bus, depending on how long the toilet breaks are). They are quite expensive $200 ($4 by bus) so we think we're targeting the right people. Airport uses grocery shopping carts for the luggage!
Driving back through town , we spot " Jack Sparrow".
In the afternoon, we drove to the Chinese Village ( tourist attraction). People were lining up for this old fashioned ferris wheel.
Village is built on a hill, so there are good views here, but mainly shops and restaurants.
Horse rides with girlie horses!
Some of the crew at the entrance .
Stopped at the famous " coffee in love" shop. Beautiful spot, with great views and great coffee. A lot of people are wearing T-shirts from this place, so had to check it out.
This is the owners residence, next to the coffee shop. Lots of people pose and roam around this area.
About 6pm, Derek flew the balloon with a reporter for a tourist magazine.
We took off from the back of our resort, much to the amusement of the other guest and the owner.
Landed in a field with cattle, who seemed quite inquisitive and not scared of all the noise and commotion.
Village children , who had been chasing the balloon helped us pack it away.
Wish we had this much help at each landing.
Job well done!!
Went down town for dinner and passed this converted volkswagon. Very popular coffee vehicle.
